After reading this article this morning (or s’morning as we say in Ohio), I have to say I like Pope Francis, and I’m not and never have been Catholic, or very religious but that’s neither here nor there.
He’s right. He is not to judge them, and he sees everyone as human, not as ‘sinners’ or ‘wrongdoers’ (which it is stupid to call gays ‘sinners’ because Jesus doesn’t say a word about homosexuality being wrong). Granted he was talking about priests in the Catholic faith, but I’m going to just assume he’s an all-around good guy and isn’t judgmental. We need more of this in the world out of our world leaders (though I have always been annoyed that a religion has a ‘world leader’), instead of persecution and hatred for our differences because we’re all in this together. This giant rock with water and trees and animals and humans and buildings on it hurtling through space at a million miles an hour (okay I’m not sure how fast the Earth is going, but it’s fast) is all of ours and we need to start acting like it.
Equal rights for everyone! Why is it such a hard concept for older generations to grasp? Giving people equal rights does not equate to giving up your own rights.
