Lotad is the first Generation 3 Pokémon to be ‘Pokémon of the Week!’
Lotad is the ‘Water Weed Pokémon’ (it’s little ‘hat’ is a lily pad!) and the first stage in an evolution line. At level 14 it evolves into Lombre, then when exposed to a water stone it evolves into it’s final form: Ludicolo! The entire Lotad line is typed as Water/Grass, which is a rather helpful typing. The only weakness the Lotad line faces are: Bug Type, Flying Type, and Poison Type; the Lotad line resists the following types: Ground Type, Steel Type, and Water Type.
Fun Fact: The Lotad line has a unique typing – meaning that no other Pokémon have that typing.
Since Lotad is the first stage in it’s evolution line, it is not used for end game battling, but is a great pickup early on in the Generation 3 games. It’s finally form, Ludicolo, is great for rain teams. Hopefully Lotad makes an appearance in Generation 6.
Lotad are generally kind Pokémon that travel in packs, and hang around watery areas; specifically, inland lakes or large ponds. It is unknown if Lotad are carnivores, herbivores, or omnivores, but, like other Pokémon, Lotad enjoy poffins and special Pokémon food.
Like every week, here is a fan made picture of ‘The Pokémon of the Week!’ This week’s picture is by DragginCat – Check out their work! And as always, all credit goes to the artist.
