Watch And Listen To This Terrible Geico Camel Song

Everyone knows about the Geico camel commercial. ‘Mike, guess what day it is?’ ‘Hump Day!!!!’ SO MUCH LULZ.

But really it’s annoying and so is this song. I’m just passing it along so you know whoever plays this in the future may have a few screws loose. Enjoy.

Hump Day: Geico Camel!

I normally find Geico’s commercials annoying, or unnecessary, but this commercial always gets a few chuckles out of me!

Happy Hump Day, everyone!

Hump Day: 3 More Accounts To Follow On Twitter

I’m back at it again, trying to improve your time on Twitter.

In case you missed them, I have done this twice previously, here are the links to my other suggestions. Link. Link 2.

All right, let’s get started, shall we?

Now I know what you’re thinking, “Follow a guy named ‘@Pants’?  Why would I do that?”  Simple.  The guy is absolutely hilarious.  Not only does he provide humor through his tweets, he is also a fantastic comic strip artist and will occasionally illustrate hilarious tweets from other comedians.  This guy will make you laugh daily.  His art style is different, but it’s a good different that sets him apart from other online comic strip artists.  Check out his website Formal Sweatpants, as well!

That’s right!  Bill Nye “The Science Guy” is on Twitter, and he has been for some time.  If you love science, or just loved his show when you were a kid, you will be delighted at his tweets.  He normally shares to his followers what he is up to, where he’s at, and if he’ll be on a news station discussing certain scientific topics.  (He’s also a baseball fan!)  Please be careful, though, because there are several parody accounts of Bill Nye on Twitter, so look for the verified blue check next to his name!

Hightlight Magazine is a free monthly online magazine for music lovers.  They provide information on well-known artists, as well as lesser-known artists, so you will be treated to a wide variety of music, which is good because you should expand your music horizons as much as you can!  They tweet a decent amount per day, but not enough to be bothersome.  They are interactive, so tweet at them if you have any questions or praise!

Hump Day: Finding Motivation

Yesterday I was somewhat down on myself, and I wasn’t really sure why.  I couldn’t conjure up that motivation to do anything yesterday it seemed.  I wasn’t sick, injured, or tired, I just couldn’t get myself to do anything other than check my phone every twenty seconds (a curse my generation is known for).

Then I decided I wanted to get motivated, so I clicked ‘Safari’ on my phone to open up a browser and Googled ‘How to find motivation.’  It didn’t really turn up much other than a few lousy, supposed-to-be inspiring quotes and pictures with motivational sayings under them.  Sigh.

While wallowing in my lack of motivation, I had a great thought run through my head.  “Why not check Reddit?  Every time you’ve been there you’ve learned something and remembered it well.  Maybe the same will do for motivation?”  Sure, why not. Off to Reddit I went.

On Reddit’s main site I searched the term ‘motivation.’  There were a plethora of options for motivating one’s self for many different reasons: eating right, staying the course for exercise goals, quitting smoking/chewing tobacco, giving up certain drugs, waking up early in the morning, and several other reasons to keep motivation up.

Here is what will appear if you search 'motivation' on Reddit's main page. As you can see there is a wealth of motivation to be found here. Spectacular.

Yet I was looking just for general motivation.  Motivation that isn’t tied to exercising (I exercise on a daily basis, one of the few things I don’t need to motivate myself to do), drugs (I don’t do them), smoking/chewing tobacco (I don’t partake), or waking up early in the morning (I may have to revisit this if I get a job that requires me to get up early in the morning).  So what motivation did I find to help me find purpose yesterday?  I clicked on /r/GetMotivated in the subreddit listing at the top of the page, but originally thought it would just be more about exercise.  I was cheerfully wrong.

(A subreddit is a page dedicated to a certain topic, such as motivation, and can be broken down to even further subreddits if necessary.)

The third link on the /r/GetMotivated is titled “Introduction To Motivation.”  I thought, “There can’t be a better place to start than this!” And I was right, this was the best place to start to find my motivation.  Here is a snippet of it:

Motivation is an emotion

Have you ever seen a post on /r/getmotivated that pumps you up – this changes everything! I’m going to go out and make my life everything that it’s meant to be! Only… a week passes and nothing much has changed.

The fact the motivation comes and goes after reading something motivational in the same way that sadness comes and goes after reading something sad indicates that motivation is an emotion.

The fact that motivation is an emotion has both advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantages are that it can fade quickly, especially when we are run down, tired, discouraged. The advantage is that we can control our emotions. Not only can we control our emotions, but the more we exercise control of our emotions, the more skilled we become at controlling our emotions.

We can make ourselves feel happy by remembering happy times, feeling ourselves in a past happy moment, fully associating with all the details and making that past experience real in the present. The same is true with motivation. I can remember times when I was down and out wanting to give up, but I stood back up and pushed through the pain and was able to make something great happen. This is motivation that comes from within me.

You have all the motivation you need within yourself right now. If you keep pushing yourself in terms of keeping your motivation and will power at a high level you will begin to find it easier to get and stay motivated.

Here is the rest of it.  Truly good work by  “TheCourageWolf” here.  Another post made me just as motivated as this, but it is more of a pep talk motivation if that works for you!

What motivates you everyday? Let me know in the comments!

Hump Day: Which Rapper Is Better? Kanye West vs. Jay – Z

(I have not listened to all songs on either Magna Carta… Holy Grail or Yeezus so please take that into consideration when reading this post.  Also, take into consideration that I prefer rock music, but I do like West’s and Jay-Z’s previous work.)

Magna Carta… Holy Grail and Jay-Z

Okay, so Jay-Z released his new album, Magna Carta… Holy Grail, a few days ago through an app that Samsung paid for so Jay-Z would avoid his album being leaked.  With the app, users had the opportunity to download the new album before anyone online, or before any physical copies appeared; the first 1 million got the album for free and it downloaded to those 1 million on July 4th (but with issues.)

Seems pretty hip and cool for Jay-Z to do that for the fans, but it also ensured ‘The Jigga Man’ a nice pay day; he received $5 million for Samsung buying 1 million companies.  Sure as hell looks like a suave business move to me.  Even with a leak, shouldn’t a Jay-Z album sell pretty damn well?

I have always had respect of Jay-Z just because he was the epitome of rap for my generation (aside from Eminem) and no one could stop him.  He was someone to truly idolize if you wanted to be successful.  But that all changed once I read this article and actually did some critical thinking.

Jay-Z is, and always has been, a business man first.  Sure he has some notable songs (my favorites being: Big Pimpin’, 99 Problems, Dirt Off Your Shoulder, and the entire collaboration with Linkin Park), but I believe Jay-Z to be more about the dough and the power now. (Then I ask myself would he marry Beyonce if she wasn’t worth as much as she is? But then I laugh because Beyonce is incredibly talented and gorgeous.) He’s now a freakin’ sports agent!  Roc Nation is spreading as quickly as the Roman Empire once did.  I’m not knocking Jay-Z for wanting to become bigger than big, but shouldn’t a rapper (or any musician for that matter) care about his music, not trying to score a sweet deal, like the aforementioned Samsung deal, or expanding your record label into sports?

Nonetheless this is about the album, I think Jay-Z’s album (of the songs I’ve heard) is a 6/10 and will succeed just because it’s Jay-Z.  No disrespect, but the album is average.  Nothing that makes you want to dance, nothing that makes you contemplate (yes rap lyrics can be contemplative), nor lyrics that are catchy.

Jay-Z’s disses are getting lackluster: ““Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me.”  That is pretty terrible, it references how New York Yankees second basemen, Cano, left super agent, Boras, for Roc Nation.

Now to Yeezus and Kanye West

Kanye, or Ye, or now Yeezus, has been a polarizing figure in popular culture since I can remember.  He’s had some misteps (they may not be misteps to you), but overall he has been a fashionable, opinionated, and superb rapper/hip-hop artist.  From All Falls Down to Gold Digger (this song is ironic now, though) to Heartless to Power to Clique to Mercy, West pumps out songs that everyone that loves him or barely knows him (very few people) remember.

He either has catchier lyrics than Jay-Z, or I am just biased and have terrible ears when it comes to rap/hip-hop (which may very well be true).  The thing I like about Kanye is that he may be arrogant as all get out, but he is himself.  He never settles for what someone else thinks or does, but what he wants and what he thinks.  Sure, he’s as much of a businessman as Jay-Z is, but Kanye West goes 100% when it comes to his music. Every album is different (and possibly better) than the one before it.  That, to me, shows that Kanye is a true artist; being safe and doing the same type of music every time shows that an artist is incredibly weak and do not care if they let down fans.

Yeezus, of the songs I’ve heard, is an 8/10 and continues Kanye West’s streak as being extremely creative with his music.

(side note: I think Childish Gambino is better than either of these two, but whatever it’s only one man’s opinion.)

Hump Day: Famous Hump

Expecting Pamela Anderson (some of you may not even remember her!) or Kim Kardashian (yuck)?

No ma’am/sir, this isn’t a lovely lady lumps blog! (Shout out to the Black Eyed Peas I suppose.)  Let’s learn something on this Wednesday!

There are plenty of humps in the world, but I’d like to focus on a particular hump – the hump of the dromedary camel!

Dromedary, or Arabian, camels are quadrupedal mammals that are often used for travel because of their incredible endurance (due to fatty tissues in the hump) and strength.  They are a “Beast of Burden.”  Camels can also be used for their milk, fur (for tents and certain garments), and meat (but don’t eat these wonderful creatures!). Camels, to me, are the longer necked, long distance walker, cousin of the horse; even though horses are found in the same areas as camels are, horses cannot carry the same load that camels can making horses not near as useful.

Dromedaries can be found in Northern Africa, stretching into the Arabian Peninsula, and reaching into parts of Asia.  Dromedaries, also, can be found in Western Australia, but tend to be feral, or wild, than the camels found in other parts of the world.  Camels may not be as “pretty” as horses, but they sure as hell are very useful and dependable creatures!
